How to Establish a Connection Between SQL Guru and Oracle Instance

Establishing a connection with your Oracle environment is imperative for carrying out tasks in SQL Guru. Follow the steps outlined below to successfully establish this connection. Once you have installed SQL Guru on your computer and uploaded the catalog file to the Oracle environment, you can proceed with establishing the connection. 1. Install SQL Guru
Ensure that SQL Guru is installed on your computer. Follow the installation instructions provided in the software documentation to complete this process.

2. Upload the Catalog File
Before you can establish a connection, you need to upload the catalog file to your Oracle environment. This file contains necessary configurations and metadata. (Refer to "1. How to Upload Catalog File" for detailed instructions.)

3. Open SQL Guru and Add a New Connection
  1. Launch SQL Guru: Open SQL Guru on your computer.
  2. Add Connection: Click on the add symbol (represented by a '+' icon) at the bottom left corner of the application.    

                                                  
4. Enter Connection Details
In the connection box, you will need to enter the following information:

Connection Name: Provide a name for your connection. This can be anything that helps you identify it.
Oracle Cloud Username: Enter your Oracle cloud username.
Oracle Cloud Server URL: Provide the URL of your Oracle cloud server.
Password: Enter your Oracle cloud password.



After entering these details, click on Create Connection. This action will establish a connection between SQL Guru and your Oracle server.

5. Manage Multiple Connections
SQL Guru allows you to connect to multiple Oracle cloud environments simultaneously. To process data from a specific Oracle cloud environment, you need to select the connection you wish to use:
  1. Choose Connection: Click on the Choose Connection option located at the top right of the application.
  2. Select Connection: A list of established connections will be displayed. Select the Oracle cloud environment from which you need to pull data.


6. Accessing Your Data
Once you have selected the desired connection, SQL Guru will seamlessly access the data from the specified Oracle instance. You can now carry out various tasks and analyses using the data within SQL Guru.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues
If you encounter any issues while establishing the connection, consider the following troubleshooting tips:

  1. Verify Credentials: Ensure that the Oracle cloud username, server URL, and password are correct.
  2. Network Connectivity: Check your network connection to ensure it is stable and can reach the Oracle instance.
  3. Catalog File: Confirm that the catalog file is correctly uploaded and contains the necessary configurations.
