How to Generate Role License Usage Report and Privilege License Usage Report

How to Generate Role License Usage Report and Privilege License Usage Report

License reports are essential for various business purposes such as compliance management, cost management, and resource allocation. SQL Guru's License Management module allows you to generate different types of license reports, including User - Role License Usage Report and User - Privilege License Usage Report. The setup steps and report generation steps are almost the same for both. This guide will walk you through the process.

Step-by-Step Guide to Generating License Reports

1. Accessing the License Management Module

To start, click on the Main Menu and navigate to the License Management module.

2. Connecting to Oracle Cloud Instances

In the License Management module, go to the Connection Data page. Here, you will see all your Oracle Cloud instances connected to the SQL Guru tool. Sync the data of the instance for which you need to extract the report by clicking on Sync.

3. Setting Up Client Information

After syncing, return to the License Management module and navigate to the Client Setup - Admin. Click on Create at the top left and enter the required information in the New Client Admin box. Select the connection, choose the offering, and enter the number of licenses originally subscribed for that particular offering. Enter the part name and save. Repeat this process for all the offerings.

To avoid repetition, you can download the import template which is on the top of the page, fill in all the offerings and other related information, and bulk upload it into the SQL Guru tool.

4. Generating License Reports

Go back to the License Management module and select License Reports. Here, you will find options for User - Role License Usage Report, User - Privilege License Usage Report, and License Summary Report.

By simply clicking Run, you will be able to generate these reports. Using the appropriate filters, you can view details such as the licenses used by each user, the number of times a particular privilege was used by a specific user, and much more.

5. Viewing and Exporting Reports

Once the reports are generated, you can view them directly in SQL Guru. For further analysis or sharing, you can export these reports in various formats such as CSV or Excel.
